week 6: texting and driving

Texting and driving is probably one of the things that is killing a lot of people these days. Teenagers and even adults do not get the fact the texting while driving is very dangerous. I am not going to lie I do it all the time. But I am going to try my hardest to stop because I know it is not good to do. My dad just told me the other day that they faceted that texting and driving is worse than drinking and driving. When I heard that, I made me really scared and want to be really cautious of texting in the car. It is very tempting to do. You will just be driving and then you hear your phone ring and you just wonder who is it and what they are saying. You are wondering if it is really important, so you just take a quick glance at it. That one decision could ruin the rest of your life and you might not realize that. My friend during the month of March this year was on my way to my house and she called me saying that she just got into a wreck because she was texting. Her car was totaled. I am just thankful that she did not get hurt. Sometimes you might catch yourself not driving good, and then you really need to realize that you probably should not be texting. So all I am saying is be careful while texting and driving because one second of looking at your phone could ruin your life.

  1. I totally agree with this.. I had lost a friend b/c she was texting her family and telling them that she was on her way over to my house. I felt horrible, so i stopped texting and driving b/c i too realized that u do take your eyes off the road even if you think that you're not.

  2. Catie, Great job on picking this topic. It's a very good way to express the way texting and driving does to you. I been hearing so many accidents thats dealing with this and that their makin a law to it. I myself text and drive but i am cutting back for sure. After all the things that happen to young drivers, it scares me and makes me wanna quit right away.

  3. Catie, I totally get this "temptation." What do you think about turning your phone off while you drive? Is that a possibility?
